Recycling and the Economy

Scrap metal Recycling plays an important role in balancing the US trade balance – exporting the raw materials that power the world’s economy, while helping prevent the use of limited natural resources.

If estimates are to be believed, about 70 million tonnes of steel and iron, 4 million tonnes of aluminium and 1.5 million tonnes of copper are recycled annually. This recycling helps to reduce air pollution by 86 percent, conserves about 74 percent of water and facilitates conservation of 90 percent natural resources.

Additionally, the worldwide recycling industry invests around $20 billion each year on new equipment and research & development.

For example, during the manufacture of cans, recycled aluminium requires 96 % less energy than compared to manufacture of new aluminium from its source material, bauxite. Malaysia recycle is achieved effectively since plastic bottles consume 76% less energy while paper needs 45% less energy and glass uses 21% less energy. Malaysia recycle saves enough energy per annum that can be used to power close to one million Malaysia homes and also in reducing water pollutants by more than 21,000 tons. On an average Malaysia generates around 12, 000 pounds of carbon dioxide per annum as a result of energy use for home energy, personal transportation, and also from the energy used for different products and services.
